Bails

How to Make a Bail

If you've ever come across a piece of jewelry that just won't fit any of the bails you have, don't worry, you're not the only one. Listed below are some examples of bails that Michelle came up with to correct this, and be creative at the same time!

Example #1

Step One
techstep1
Take a 2" piece of FW015 and feed one end through the hole on HR2514

Step Two
techstep2
Thread one BD315 onto one end of the threaded FW015. Thread the opposite end of the wire through the same BD315, making a circle with the wire.

Step Three
techstep3
Crimp BD315 with a set of crimping pliers (either PL127 or PL125) and cut the excess wire off with a set of cutters (PL495 for example)

Step Four
techstep4
Take one BD610 and set over the crimped BD315. Using the first hole on your crimping pliers, close the bead crimp cover.

Step Five

Example #2
In this example, Michelle has created a bail that can also be used to attach beads for a necklace!

Step One

Take whatever length you would like your finished necklace to be and add 1/2" to it. Cut that length. In this example, we used FW015.

Find the center of this piece of wire and thread a HR2000 onto it.
Bring both ends of the wire together and thread one BD315 onto both of the halves of FW015.

Step Two
techstep2
Crimp this BD315 with a set of crimping pliers (either PL127 or PL125 as an example)

Step Three
techstep3
Take one BD610 and set over the crimped BD315. Using the first hole on your crimping pliers, close the bead crimp cover. 6. Thread on one AC8380 and then start to thread the rest of your beads on for your necklace. (Think of this like working from the middle of the necklace to the ends instead of the other way around.)
Attach a clasp and you are ready to go!

With these examples, we wanted to show you the techniques that can be used to make sure that your focal crystals are placed on your necklace safely and securely. Just let your imagination run wild with the endless possibilities to creating your own personalized bail!
